Awesome Grill, Only 1 Small Gripe

We bought the Weber One Touch Gold charcoal grill based on mostly positive reviews. For starters this is one of the most solidly built grills I've seen. When you look at it you can tell they used top notch materials in the construction, which doesn't surprise me since it says Weber on it. Assembly wasn't that bad but I did have a little trouble with the base ring for the ash catcher, but that was really the only thing that slowed me down.

One thing I noticed the first time I was grilling with it is the design of the metal grate for the charcoal. It is quite innovative as it allows the air to flow up under the coals which keeps them hot. The two sides can be flipped up so you can easily add more charcoal if necessary. Also, the two handles on the grate itself make it easy to move around and the wheels on the grill allow me to roll it around with no problems.

The large amount of cooking space is great. I find myself cooking all kinds of stuff at the same time and everything comes out pretty even as long as I spread the coals evenly. I think the design is such that the heat is evenly distributed across the entire surface. The ash catcher is another great feature and really a big reason why I chose the Gold over the Silver model. The ash plate on the Silver might get filled up quicker so if you can swing it go with the Gold.

I really only have one complaint with it and it is pretty minor. The handle on the outside of the grill gets quite hot during use which causes me to need to use a mitt when taking the lid off. Not sure if they could use a different material on it but just remember to use a grilling mitt and you will remain burn free.

Overall the Weber One Touch Gold charcoal grill is an excellent choice. Highly recommended.
