Well built grill smoker combo at a good price

The Char Griller Pro Deluxe is a well thought out charcoal grill and smoker that has a very reasonable price. I simply don’t know why anyone spends a lot of money on a Weber or other expensive brand. You can get a lot of grilling value for less money, in my opinion.

While most grills have shoddy construction, this Char-Griller is built of heavy steel and the cooking grates are cast iron. These look like they will last for a long time. I like the grilling surface as well. It is quite large and easy to get to when hot. The charcoal grate is adjustable up and down, and is also easy to take out for cleaning. The warming shelf is another thing I like as it holds a good amount of food. My prior grill just didn’t seem to have much warming space but I assumed this was the case with all grills, but not this one. Another thing I really like is the built in thermometer. It is very accurate when using it as a smoker or grill.

There are a couple things I don’t like about it that have caused me to give it a 4 star rating. The hooks for the charcoal grate are kinda small and not up to par with the other components. The legs underneath don’t seem as solid as the body either. Not that they have broken down on my unit but I will keep an eye on them.

Really though, these are minor gripes and for the money you can’t go wrong with the Char Griller Pro Deluxe. It’s easy to use for smoking and grilling, and produces great tasting food time and time again. The price is another plus and many reviews I read were right on in their praise for it. I recommend it to everyone who asks about it.

Every deck should have this grill

There are a few reasons that I decided to choose the Char Griller Wrangler grill. For starters, I wanted charcoal as I just love the taste it produces. Also, the price was just right especially when compared to other barbecue grills in the same category. For a little over $100 you get a smoker/grill combo that produces great tasting food. My next consideration was the overall size as I don’t have a large area. While it isn’t a huge model it isn’t as small as some of the other grills like the Weber Kettle. Even though it doesn’t take up a lot of space, the grilling area is decent. I think it will give you 640 square inches which is plenty for our family. We even use it for family functions with no problems.

My one complaint was the assembly as this seemed to take a while. As long as you have the right tools you can get the job done but I’m not the most handy guy. I would have preferred to have it pre-assembled but I found the best price online so this wasn’t possible. Not a huge deal but I docked them one star for it.

Also, if you move it around a lot you will want to make sure you hold it securely. Don’t grip it by the shelf as this will likely break off. It’s solid when you are grilling on it but you need to be careful if you have to haul it anywhere. This is no problem for me because I never move it.

Overall I’m pleased with my new Char-Griller Wrangler. I use it as a smoker and regular charcoal grill with much success. Highly recommended in this price range.

Good Value In This Grill For The Money

After doing quite a bit of research on gas grills in the approximately $200 range I decided to buy the Char-Griller Grillin’ Pro. I have been using it for several months and it still looks just like it did when I pulled it out of the box. The cast iron that is used to build it gives off very even heat across the burners. It really does a nice job of grilling everything we put on it. The drip tray is also easy to get to which is a nice change from the other barbecue grill we owned. That one just had the small hole with the hanging can.

I also like the smoker attachment as it gives us the option of smoking our meal for something different. While I mainly use the gas grill for our cooking this is a nice change. It didn’t cost much extra and I felt it was well worth the price.

One thing I did not like that much was the assembly as it really took a couple of people to get everything right. It really isn’t something you should rush through but rather you should take your time and make sure everything lines up. This is probably the case with all grills but I wish it was a little easier to do. I am not that adept at building things though so if you are familiar with using tools then it will probably take you less time. Other than that I love everything else about the grill and am glad to barbecue on it all summer long.

In this price range there are many other nice looking gas grills but they are not constructed as well. The Char Griller Grillin Pro is a step above them and really has a tried and true design. You can easily grill just about anything with little preparation and little cleanup. I recommend it to anyone who wants a quality cooker without spending a fortune.

Nice dual purpose barbecue grill

I have had the Char-Griller Duo gas and charcoal grill for a few months now and it has been a great addition to our deck. This grill really does everything we need. It was quite easy to put together even though it is on the bigger side of grills we have seen. The vegetable oil coating on it was a little weird at first but I guess it is there for protection.

The amount of grilling space is really huge too, on either side. The charcoal height is even adjustable while you are cooking on it (with hand protection of course). We find that both sides cook the meat very evenly and leave nice grill marks. If we are in a rush we will use the gas side but when we have more time like on the weekends we will fire up the charcoal side. We have entertained our whole family more than once with no problems.

Some of the positive features of the Char Griller Duo are: use of either gas or charcoal, optional side fire box for smoking, easy to assemble, very sturdy, and the grilling is simply superb on both sides.

The things we don’t like about it are: it’s heavy to move around and the price was more than we wanted to spend. However, we feel that you get a great product for the money so it was worth it. Overall it is the most amazing barbecue grill I have had.

Reasonably priced charcoal smoker grill

The Char-Griller Outlaw charcoal grill and smoker is very reasonable in price and is very thought out in all its aspects. I can not understand why anyone buys an expensive Weber grill when this extra large super pro model does all the same if not more than at a fraction of the cost.

The Char Griller is constructed of heavy duty steel not the flimsy kind and all the cooking grates are true cast iron. The grilling surfaces are large and can be easily removed hot or cold with the handy cast iron handel. The air flow is simple to use as well and you can even barbecue a large beef, chicken, pork, and even a baby lamb by using the rotisserie attachment. The front and side shelves are handy and I love the already built in thermometer. The storage area underneath is quite large and very useful.

However there are just a few minor complaints that could be approved upon. The hooks that hold the charcoal grate into place are a bit small and flimsy. The damper on the side is constructed of a very light metal material and the control tab broke off easily. The rotisserie attachment runs the level of the cooking grates so you can not use them together. A couple of grates may fit but the charcoal will be way to close to the rotisserie if it is in the right distance for grilling. These complaints are minor to me and this has been an exceptional charcoal grill that is quite reasonably priced.

Delicious barbecue grilling and smoking at a great price

I got the Char-Griller Smokin Pro charcoal grill as a birthday gift and have been grilling on it every week since. I have smoked a lot of different types of meat including chicken, ribs, and ham and every time it has tasted excellent. These grills are really designed well which is something that an old bbq pro like myself can appreciate. When I priced them out online I was surprised at how affordable it really is.

The temperature is very easy to regulate on the Smokin Pro which is something that hinders other charcoal grills. I can keep the grilling surface at around 220 degrees without much effort. The grates come in 4 different pieces so they are easy to move around when adding more briquets if you happen to be grilling in the main chamber. I find that there is a lot of room to use it as a smoker as well.

The only negative I have seen is the paint has flaked off in a couple of spots when the fire box got too hot. It does state this in the manual so I really can’t fault the grill for doing so. It only happened in a few tiny spots so I just hit it with some high temp paint to get it back to looking like new.

Overall the I recommend this the Char-Griller Smokin Pro to anybody who enjoys a traditional charcoal grill that can also be used as a smoker. If you are on a budget then this unit will more than suffice.

Quality and affordable barbecue grill

I bought the Char Griller Patio Pro last year and can say that this is one great charcoal grill. I love grilling steaks and chicken with it. We really didn’t want a gas model and wanted something that was small enough for our little deck so this barbecue grill just stood out to us.

The Patio Pro comes with cast iron grates which cook very evenly and much faster than our previous grill. That one had the standard metal grates which really weren’t as high quality as this one. I typically have hot coals in two thirds of the box where I can really sear my steaks and then move them over indirect heat to finish the grilling of them. I have found that the cast iron grates keep the heat evenly distributed so the meat cooks quickly even over the indirect portion.

We find that of all the smaller grills we looked at, this one had the most room for grilling for our family. We can actually cook an entire meal including two big steaks, four baked potatoes, and some corn on the cob at the same time. I really like the pull out tray as it is simple to remove the burnt coals as well as giving easy access for smoker chips. This is a great way to add some flavor to your meal.

The Char Griller is also more heavy duty than you might think. We use it 2 or 3 times per week all summer long and it gives us no problems at all. For the money it really is a good value and a BBQ grill that we recommend to everyone who listens. If you are looking for a small yet high quality charcoal grill with some excellent features then buy this one!
